Just north of the Abruzzo nestled in the rolling hills behind the walled city of Ascoli Piceno lies the estate of Saladini Pilastri. They are one of the oldest families in the Marche and their 200 hectares includes the usual viticultural suspects (Pecorino, Sangiovese and Montepulciano) from this neck of the woods. All the vineyards are farmed organically which is no hardship given the hot, dry summers. Produced from only the best Sangiovese and Montepulciano and aged briefly in large oak botte.
Tasting Notes: This wine exhibits aromas of ripe cherries, berries, and hints of spices. On the palate, it delivers rich flavours of red fruits, with soft tannins and a pleasant acidity.
